Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister and Permanent Representative to the United Nations exposed the role of the West in supporting terrorists and called on the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons not to be used as a Western political tool.

Iran PressAmerica: Bashar al-Jaafari raised the issue at a UN Security Council meeting on Friday on the Syrian chemical issue. He noted that Syria has complied with all obligations under its accession to the 2013 Chemical Weapons Convention, and stressed the need for the closure of this case.

The Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister also called on the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to refrain from politicizing its technical nature, which undermines its credibility and true goals.

He added that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has become a tool in a geopolitical game led by the United States and its allies.

Al-Jaafari stated: "Western countries, especially the United States, have used this organization as a tool to violate their obligations in pursuing their political plans."

Syria has not used chemical weapons and is still committed to working with the OPCW, its technical secretariat and the assessment team to resolve all issues so that the case can be closed as soon as possible and removed from the circle of political games and media manipulation.

Syria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations cites the Netherlands scandal over millions of dollars in funding for some 22 terrorist groups and emphasized Western countries that falsely claim to be concerned about the Syrian people continue to support and protect terrorist organizations responsible for the suffering of the Syrian people.

He noted that the Netherlands is the second European country after Belgium, which has the largest share in the number of terrorists who went to Syria and Iraq to fight alongside terrorist organizations. 219
