Beyond the cinematic showcase, the gathering served as a strategic platform for promoting friendship, strengthening cultural ties, and enhancing diplomatic relations between Iran, Nigeria, and other participating nations.
In his opening remarks, Sayyed Hassan Heydar, Head of Iran’s Cultural Center in Nigeria, emphasized the unifying nature of the event. "We are gathering to celebrate culture, faith and friendship between nations," he stated. Heydar described the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as an exemplary model for the world, particularly in promoting peace, compassion, and cooperation among Muslim and non-Muslim nations, as well as in standing against injustice.
The Nigerian government’s commitment to this bilateral relationship was underscored by the presence of Sayyeda Rahma Abdulmajid, Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu on Media and Broadcast, who attended as the President's representative. She commended the continuous progress in strengthening the longstanding friendship between the two countries and called for expanded cooperation in culture, economic development, and religion.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Abdulmajid praised the Iranian-directed film, helmed by renowned director Majid Majidi. She highlighted the significance of her attendance as a reflection of strong bilateral ties.
"Seeing me here (as a representative of the President) is showing how good the relationship between Nigeria and Iran is. I'm here not on my own, but to represent the Federal Government," she noted. "As we have discussed with His Excellency, the Iranian ambassador, a few weeks ago, we talked about assigning some soft diplomatic memorandums to strengthen the relationship. So, there has been a very good relationship between our countries."
The event ultimately highlighted the critical role of cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement in fostering mutual understanding and advancing international diplomacy.
