Emphasizing that regional security hinges on confronting force-based approaches, Pezeshkian told fellow leaders that lasting stability is achieved not through confrontation, but through mutual trust, respect for national sovereignty, and non-interference. He urged the SCO to simultaneously address both security and economic dimensions to effectively promote global multilateralism.
To elevate the organization's role, the Iranian president put forward three specific initiatives: establishing an SCO bank, creating an export and investment insurance union, and forming an energy consortium.
Shifting to diplomatic tensions, Pezeshkian addressed the U.S. withdrawal from the Islamabad understanding, an agreement reached on June 19 after three months of mediation by Qatar and Pakistan. He noted that the U.S. commitment—signed by the U.S. president himself—lasted less than two weeks before giving way to ongoing greed and unfaithfulness.
While stating that Iran has already given a proportionate response to the U.S. breach, Pezeshkian issued a clear warning: if the U.S. returns to its commitments under the understanding, Iran will immediately take reciprocal action.
Contrasting the two nations' track records, the president highlighted Iran's "brilliant record" of honoring international treaties and strictly adhering to international law, drawing a sharp contrast with Washington's behavior.
