Tehran (IP) - The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations.

Iran PressIran News: During a meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selaković in Tehran on Sunday, President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran has always supported Serbia's national unity and stressed the need to strengthen international cooperation between Tehran and Belgrade.

Rouhani said that Iran believed in the need to maintain peace, stability and security in the Balkans and the peaceful coexistence of all ethnicities and races, adding that the fight against terrorism and the establishment of peace, stability and security require cooperation and comprehensive efforts of countries.

Referring to the outbreak of the coronavirus in various countries of the world, including Iran and Serbia, Rouhani announced Iran's readiness to contribute in scientific and professional cooperation with Serbia in the fight against coronavirus.

Referring to the imposition of illegal sanctions and the US three-year economic war against the Iranian nation, Iran's President said: "With the complete lifting of sanctions, a new space will be created for Iran's economic cooperation and interaction with the world, and it is better for friendly countries to try to use this opportunity."

During the meeting, the Serbian Foreign Minister stressed that the country has always been committed to having friendly relations with Iran, and stressed the need to develop and deepen relations between the two countries in areas of interest.

Nikola Selaković added: "We have always supported and continue to support the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and peaceful goals of the Iranian nuclear program."
