Sailors released from India arrived Iran

Chabahar (IP) - The head of the Foreign Ministry's representative office in the Chabahar Free Zone, said 15 Iranian sailors arrived home after being detained in New Delhi for 1.5 years.

Iran PressIran News: Hamid-Reza Tusi stated: "These Iranian sailors were arrested and imprisoned by the Indian Coast Guard about a year and a half ago due to entering Indian territorial waters."

The head of the Foreign Ministry's Mission in the Chabahar Free Zone noted: "With the release of these sailors, we have eight more prisoners in India who we hope will be released with the ongoing consultations."

Last year a hurricane had caused an incident for the fishermen who were fishing in the international waters near the Iranian Chabahar port but they had to enter India's territorial waters in pursuit of help. But the fishermen were imprisoned in India for entering the territorial waters of the country illegally. 

According to Ali Chegini, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi Iranian Fishermen had been in trouble for a long time, and even during this time their dinghy had sunk, they had very difficult conditions in detention in Bangalore and were finally acquitted after several rounds of trial.
