Iranian, Serbian FMs Discuss Coronavirus Outbreak

Tehran (IP) - Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Da?i? had a telephone conversation on Friday 13 March to discuss countering coronavirus.

Iran PressIran news: During the phone call, the Serbian foreign minister expressed the solidarity of his country’s nation and government with Iran in its fight against the spread of coronavirus.

The phone call came a few hours after Iran’s Health Ministry confirmed 1,289 new cases of Coronavirus infections, including 85 new deaths.

The Health Ministry’s spokesman, Kianoush Jahanpour, announced on Friday 13 March that the new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours increase the total number of infections to 11,364 and the death toll to 514.

He said 3,529 have also recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

In late December 2019, Chinese authorities notified WHO about an outbreak of previously unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, central China. On March 11, WHO officially characterized the situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic. The disease has spread to over 110 countries. According to official data, over 134,000 people have been infected with the virus globally, and over 5,000 have died.
