Iran Press/ Iran news: Following the letter sent by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the Assistants to Mohammad Javad Zarif in the regional areas separately met the ambassadors and heads of foreign missions residing in Iran.
The meetings underscored that the unilateral US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran are a major obstacle to the effective and comprehensive fight against the Corona outbreak, emphasizing the need for the international community not to recognize and enforce these illegal sanctions.
On 12 March, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, sent a letter to Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. He also sent its copies to the heads of all international organizations and his counterparts around the world. The letter called for the end of US government sanctions, a major obstacle to combating the Coronavirus outbreak in Iran.

Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman, Kianoush Jahanpour said in his daily news conference on Sunday that in the past 24 hours 1209 new cases of COVID-19 infected people were identified in the country and the total number of patients with the disease increased to 13,938.
Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman said: "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 113 patients have died, and the death toll in the country has risen to 724."
He said that fortunately, so far, 4,590 patients with COVID-19 have been recovered and they have been discharged from hospitals all across Iran.
