According to the Public Relations Office of the IRGC Navy, smart control of the Strait of Hormuz continues to be vigorously maintained by the IRGC Naval Forces, despite the insecurity resulting from the aggressive actions of the U.S. military in the strategic waterway.
For generations, the Strait of Hormuz — which lies entirely within Iran's territorial waters and along its southern coastline — has been maintained by Iran as a strategic corridor for global trade, with the Iranian navy ensuring freedom of navigation in line with both the historical practice and the international law.
However, following the unprovoked joint military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iranian territory on February 28, Tehran announced the immediate closure of the strait, suspending its longstanding policy of open passage.
