Iran Press/ Iran news: Nikolai Patrushev, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, arrived in Tehran Tuesday night November 8 upon the official invitation of Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a meeting on Wednesday, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries in energy, transportation, agriculture, trade, banking, and the environment.
Shamkhani also called for removing obstacles to mutual ties and trades.
He pointed to the war in Ukraine and said: "Iran welcomes and supports any initiative that leads to a ceasefire and peace between Russia and Ukraine based on dialogue and is ready to play a role in ending the war."
The Iranian top security official emphasized the establishment of joint institutions to counter sanctions as well as the activation of the capacity of international organizations.
Nikolay Patrushev, for his part, said that his visit to Iran was aimed at accelerating the implementation of joint projects along with providing dynamic mechanisms to start new activities in the economy, commerce, energy, and technology.
Secretary of the Russian Security Council called the synergy of the two sides in transit capacities, especially the rapid completion of the North-South Corrido project, an effective step to improve the quality of bilateral and international economic and trade cooperation.
Pinpointing the joint project of Iran and Russia to create a friendship group defending the UN Charter with the membership of the countries sanctioned by the West, he said: "Western countries, especially the US, are seeking to impose their political will on independent countries by violating the UN Charter and using hybrid war."
