The opening ceremony was attended by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falah al-Zaydi, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Sarwa Abdul Wahid, Baghdad Governor Atwan al-Atwani and representatives of the Iraqi Publishers Union, among other officials and cultural figures. Organizers said the program includes literary and intellectual seminars, panel discussions, poetry evenings and cultural and artistic events.
Iran is among the participating countries, with the Islamic Revolution Publications taking part alongside Iraqi, Arab and international publishers under the slogan “We Live by Your Memory.”
Iran’s House of Book and Literature is also participating on behalf of the Culture Ministry’s cultural affairs department, presenting about 1,150 titles covering Iranian history and art, literature, children and young adults, women, psychology, resistance, Islamic jurisprudence, Persian-language education, tourism and Iranian studies.
A specialized discussion on Iran-Iraq cultural relations is also scheduled as part of Iran’s program, bringing together Iranian and Iraqi researchers to examine the countries’ longstanding historical and civilizational ties.
The broad international participation reflects Baghdad’s continuing effort to strengthen its position as a regional center for cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue.
