A member of the Yemeni Ansarullah peace negotiating team in Sweden has emphasized on Iran's steadfast support for peace in Yemen.

Iran press/Iran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Saturday, AbdulMalek al-Ajri, a member of the Ansarullah peace negotiating team attending the current all-Yemeni peace talks in Sweden, also said: "There is a near global consensus that a political solution to the crisis in Yemen must be found, and this is also the firm belief of the Ansarullah movement.

"Almost everyone believes that a political settlement  of the conflict in Yemen is needed. The UN security council wants to see a political solution, the United Nations' special envoy to Yemen wants to see a political solution, the five countries want to see a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, and despite serious doubts about the US position, the Americans, on the face of it, are saying that there is no military solution to the war in Yemen, and if a solution is going to be found, it will have to be a political one," the member of the Ansarullah peace negotiating team said.

Yemeni peace negotiator, AbdulMalek al-Ajri, added: "The Ansarullah movement is here in Sweden to find a political solution to the conflict in Yemen which is acceptable to all sides; the whole world wants to see a political solution to end the war in Yemen. We now have to prove, here in Sweden, that a political solution can be found."

Asked about the peace talks in Sweden, al-Ajri said: "Today (Saturday) was the second day of the peace negotiations, and up until now, I can't say there has been a breakthrough in the peace talks, or something significant has been agreed upon. The peace negotiations are conducted by various teams, and we have been divided into various groups, with each group assigned a specific task, to negotiate on a specific point. Peace negotiations are centered on five specific subjects, and each group, or team, deals with a particular subject, and coordinates closely with a United Nations team of negotiators, as well as a Yemeni opposition negotiating team."

Commenting on Iran's role in the peace talks in Sweden, AbdulMalek al-Ajri said: "From the stance Iran has taken for many years it is clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports peace efforts in Yemen. The Iranians have also declared that they are prepared to 'mediate' in peace efforts, and they are also ready to make fresh peace proposals if need be."

Spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree said despite peace talks which are underway in Sweden, Saudi coalition conducted unprecedented attacks on Yemen.
