In a statement, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the U.S. Department of the Treasury due to sanctioning Tehran’s designated ambassador to Beirut Mohammad-Reza Raouf Sheibani.

The statement also condemned the U.S. sanctions against several Hezbollah members of the Lebanese Parliament, officials from the Amal Movement, and several Lebanese military officials, calling the sanctions “another example of lawlessness and disregard for the principles of the international law and the UN Charter.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that these actions aim to weaken Lebanon’s national sovereignty and fuel discord within the country, and an indication of Washington’s complicity with the Israeli regime in continuing aggression against Lebanon.

“There is no doubt that the various Lebanese groups and sects, by preserving national unity and cohesion, will defend Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and thwart the Zionist regime in achieving its sinister objectives,” the statement concluded.

The Islamic Republic of Iran also reaffirmed its determination to strengthen its friendly and historic relations with Lebanon in line with the interests of the two nations.
