Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a series of separate phone calls on Friday evening with Nechirvan Barzani (President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq), António Guterres (UN Secretary-General), Hakan Fidan (Turkish Foreign Minister), Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani (Qatari Foreign Minister), and Fuad Hussein (Iraqi Foreign Minister). The discussions covered bilateral issues and the latest regional and international developments.

In his call with Barzani, Araghchi discussed Iran-Iraq bilateral relations, economic and trade ties with the Kurdistan Region, enhancing coordination to maintain joint border security, counter-terrorism efforts, and the importance of indigenous security in the region.

During the call with Guterres, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Araghchi outlined the latest diplomatic process aimed at ending the imposed war against Iran, stating that U.S. breaches of commitments, repeated betrayals of diplomacy, military aggression, contradictory stances, and persistent excessive demands are the main obstacles to the Pakistan-brokered talks.

He emphasized: "Despite deep mistrust toward the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran has entered the diplomatic process with a responsible and serious approach, seeking a reasonable and just outcome."

The two officials also discussed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference underway in New York.

Guterres, rejecting any use of force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, stressed the need to adhere to the principles of the UN Charter and utilize diplomatic means to establish peace and stability in the region.

Araghchi also held separate calls with the foreign ministers of Turkey, Qatar, and Iraq to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments.
