Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami has emphasised that negotiating with the Americans will not benefit the Iranian nation, and that Iranians never negotiate under pressure.

Iran Press/Iran news: Addressing a huge crowd of Friday Prayer worshippers and the faithful, Tehran's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Khatami stressed that Tehran-Washington negotiations will never take place, and that America's leaders will take this wish with them to the grave, reported Iran Press.

America's leadership cannot be trusted

Turning to America's leadership, Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami said America's leaders cannot be trusted and they are not truthful. The evil triangle of Donald Trump, John Bolton and Mike Pompeo lacks honesty and truth, and their claim about being ready to negotiate with Iran is a big lie. Trump only wants to gain votes by appearing to sit round the negotiating table with Iran, with US presidential elections being just round the corner.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader said Iran does not want to repeat the experience of long protracted negotiations as in the run-up to the nuclear deal [with 5+1 Group].

He added: "In his meeting with Japanese prime minister, Abe Shinzo, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, made some very wise and astute remarks, and belittled the arrogant US president, Donald Trump, by not accepting his message.

Pointing to Trump's statement that he is not after 'regime change in Iran', Ayatollah Khatami said: "This is a big lie. In the past 40 years no US president has succeeded in bringing about regime change in Iran, even though all of them have certainly tried."

Saudi Arabia's name pops up whenever there is war, insurgency, murder and plunder

Turning to Saudi war crimes and genocide in Yemen, Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader said thousands of innocent Yemeni children and women have lost their lives simply because Saudi Arabia has destroyed vital infrastructure in Yemen. Seyyed Ahmad Khatami poignantly commented: "Saudi Arabia's name pops up whenever there is talk of war, insurgency, murder and plunder of resources."

Turning to dissent within Saudi Arabia, Ayatollah Khatami said: "The execution of Saudi citizens and those who dissident, among them teenagers and children, by the Saudi regime, shows the vile, bloodthirsty and ruthless nature of this regime."

Commenting on Sudan, Ayatollah Khatami criticised the Saudi and United Arab Emirates support for the military junta in Sudan which has ordered attacks on Sudanese people and protesters.

Turning to domestic issues, Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader said new legislation will put the spotlight on the wealth, properties and lifestyles of senior officials, this being an effective way of combating financial fraud and corruption within government bureaucracy. Seyyed Ahmad Khatami went on to thank Iran's judiciary for their strict and tough approach to punishment of corrupt officials within government, saying the judiciary's determination to tackle the root causes of corruption is admirable.
