Interior minister meets Iraqis officials for Arbaeen pilgrimage

Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli travels to Iraq to meet and hold talks with his Iraqi counterpart on Arbaeen provisions.

Iran Press/ Iran News: Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli who had been in Ilam for visiting the facilities, infrastructure and preparations of the Mehran border at the preparation for the Arbaeen ritual traveled to Iraq to meet and hold talks with his Iraqi counterpart.

Before leaving the country, Rahmani Fazli told reporters that the latest decisions are going to be made in a meeting with Iraqi Interior Minister and border governors for better holding this year's Arbaeen Great Treck.

Iranian pilgrims will cross Iran-Iraq borders on foot in order to arrive in Karbala during the time of Arbaeen ritual, through the Mehran international borderline, which is located 95 km of the southwest of Ilam province.

Every year Shia Muslims from across the globe converge on Iraq to commemorate the 40th day after Ashura, known as Arbaeen.

Last year, 14 million Shia pilgrims thronged Iraq's holy city of Karbala to mark the annual Arbaeen commemoration. 205/219
