Dushanbe (IP) - Upon his arrival in Tajikistan, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that the Islamic Republic's goal is to help establish lasting peace in Afghanistan and end the conflict.

Iran Press/Asia: Arriving in Tajikistan, Mohammad Javad Zarif said: "I am very pleased to have the opportunity to travel to Tajikistan to attend the Ninth Conference on the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process and have a bilateral meeting with Tajik officials, and to cooperate with officials from Tajikistan and other countries so that we can help our sisters and brothers in Afghanistan to establish lasting peace and end the conflict."

Referring to his meetings with high-ranking Tajik officials, he added that Iran-Tajikistan relations were long-standing and fraternal. FM Zarif also expressed hope that the trip would play a good role in strengthening and expanding cooperation in all fields.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Dushanbe, on Sunday night to attend the Ninth Conference on the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process.

In addition to attending the conference, FM Zarif will also meet with the foreign ministers of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Azerbaijan.

Currently, 15 countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, are members of the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process.
