Trade, economic and industrial relations between Iran and Turkmenistan should increase, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday.

He made the remarks in the meeting with visiting Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow in Tehran.

Larijani said existing capacities between the two countries should be used to promote ties, and added that parliamentary relations is so good and both parliaments interested in expansion of relations.

Given to close culture of the two countries, it could be a ground to promote trade and economic relations level, he added.

Iran has good experiences and capacities in the field of industry and technical affairs, for instance, in the field of road construction that Iranian companies have good function and performance.Meredow pointed to historical, old and brotherly ties between the two countries, and said that Turkmenistan has always been interested to expand ties with Iran and strengthening interactions are among our priorities.

He said that the expansion of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan is necessary, and added that mutual relations turned back to many centuries ago and people of the two countries have commonalties in culture, history that could be used to develop politico-economic relations.

Meredow added that Iran was the first country to recognize Turkmenistan's independence and dispatched ambassador, so Turkmen people will not forget this approach of support of Iranians.

He reminded that there are good capacities in the fields of industry, energy and road construction investments which should be used and the role of parliaments in these fields are so determining.

Earlier, in the meeting with visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Saturday, President Rouhani said The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to deepen ties with all neighbors, including Turkmenistan as a friend and brother country.

Ra?it Meredow also met with Iranian Foreign MinisterMohammad Javad Zarif.
