Tehran (IP) - Iran's Education Minister Mohsen Haji Mirzaei reiterated that the ministry has taken some steps to deal with the spread of coronavirus.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Education Minister Mohsen Haji Mirzaei talked to reporters about Coronavirus on Friday, adding that "We assigned a department under a deputy minister that deals with health issues. There are a variety of instructions provided for parents, teachers, and students."

The Minister of Education further noted, "Last night I emphasized that all general managers are assured of the health of dining rooms, restaurant (buffet), classes and the health facilities of schools and that we are also fully ready and will make appropriate decisions if necessary."

Earlier on Thursday, Haji Mirzaei said: "We are in constant interaction with the Ministry of Health, and I have spoken to the Minister of Health and we follow the protocols of the Ministry of Health and their recommendations."

He added that: "In coordination with the Ministry of Health, virus prevention equipment and disinfectants were ordered in schools for disinfection."

After spotting some positive tests for coronavirus in the country, the Iranian government announced that it has established a ‘Coronavirus Combat and Prevention Headquarters’ to counter the deadly virus.

The death toll in China from the coronavirus epidemic rose to 2,233 on Friday 21 February after 115 more people died in Hubei province, the hard-hit epicenter of the outbreak.

The vast majority of the deaths were in the provincial capital of Wuhan, where the virus first emerged in December, according to a daily update from the Hubei health commission.

Around 75,000 people have been infected by the new coronavirus in China, and hundreds more in over 25 countries outside China.  212/211/101
