Iran Press/ Africa: Pictures of Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi eating the famous Egyptian dishes; "Koshari" and "rice pudding" on Saturday evening sparked wide debates online.
On Saturday, pictures of Araghchi inside one of the largest restaurants in downtown Cairo caused a storm on social media with various reactions.
Local media reported that the Iranian FM confirmed that this was the first time that he tried Koshari, although this was his second visit to Cairo during his diplomatic career.
He also explained that Egypt's Koshari is unlike food in Iran, which is famous for kebab. Abbas Araghchi further highlighted Egypt's ancient and modern civilization and history, which made the world keen to visit it and eat its famous foods, and they searched for it in various countries of the world.
Hundreds of comments were made on the pictures of Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi eating "Koshari" and "rice pudding" in Egypt. Meanwhile, others advised the FM to try other traditional foods including Egyptian Falafel (commonly known as Ta'ameya).
