"Participants and guests at the 2024 BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, will convene this week to address the escalating situation in the Middle East and explore solutions to pressing global issues," Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said on Monday.

Iran PressEurope:  A session under the BRICS Plus/Outreach format is set to begin on October 24 at 10 a.m. Moscow time (7:00 a.m. GMT).

The main theme of the session will be “BRICS and the Global South: Building a Better World Together,” focusing on cooperation among nations to tackle contemporary challenges, including the enhancement of international relations, sustainable development, and food and energy security.

Ushakov emphasized that particular attention would be given to the "recently escalated situation in the Middle East," noting that discussions on this topic would be extensive. "This session will be divided into two parts: first, a meeting at the regular table, followed by a dinner table discussion," he explained.

Founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2011, BRICS has expanded to include Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia as full members as of January 1, 2024.
