The participating units in the IONS 2024 combined naval drill successfully executed an aerial photography exercise (Photo Ex) and tactical formations.

Iran PressIran news: According to the Army Public Relations Office, Rear Admiral Mustafa Tajdini, spokesperson for the IONS 2024 naval exercise, announced that during this phase, the naval units of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation, and Oman conducted the Photo Ex and offensive formations exercises.

Admiral Tajdini emphasized the importance of regional and international security, stating, "The naval forces of the Indian Ocean rim nations designed the IONS combined naval drill to enhance readiness and coordination, with the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy leading the exercise in the northern Indian Ocean."

Rescue and Maritime Security Drills in IONS 2024

In the continuation of IONS 2024, participating naval and aerial units practiced fire-fighting operations in the northern Indian Ocean.

Rear Admiral Tajdini further stated that, as part of the main phase of the IONS 2024 exercise, rescue operations, fire containment, and oil spill management were simulated. After a distress signal from a damaged vessel, participating units surveyed the area before deploying ships and helicopters for firefighting.

Delegates from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Bangladesh, and India observed the exercises aboard the Jamaran destroyer, while other IONS members participated online.
