Tehran (IP): Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in Tehran on Monday.

Iran Press/Iran News: They both discussed bilateral, international and regional issues after the assassination of Iranian top commander Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani by the US in Iraq.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in the meeting said: "General Soleimani's martyrdom has strengthened the resistance movement in the region. The US made a mistake because its terrorist act became a major international issue."

Referring to the approval of the plan to expel US troops from Iraq, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament emphasized, "All the measures taken were slaps to the US so that its authorities get noticed that with Lieutenant General Soleimani's martyrdom, the path of resistance will not change."

Imad Khamis also condoled the martyrdom of Soleimani, stating, "Syria and all sovereign states support the Islamic Republic of Iran's legal actions in self-defense." 

"General Soleimani martyrdom has strengthened the resistance and unity among the nations in the region," Khamis added.

Iran's Vice President of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri officially welcomed the Syrian Prime Minister at the Sa'adabad Historical and Cultural Complex in Tehran on Monday morning, Iran Press reported.

Following the official welcoming ceremony at Sa'adabad complex, VP and Syrian Prime Minister held talks on strengthening bilateral relations and key regional and international issues.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem and Syrian Defense Minister Ali Abdullah Ayyoub accompany their Prime Minister on his trip to Tehran.
