Iranian Foreign Minister said that in nowadays world, the essential need of the international community is 'multilateralism'.

Iran PressIran news: "In the current situation, 'multilateralism' has become an essential need of the international community more than any other time [in history]," said the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at an international conference on unilateralism and international law at Allameh Tabataba'i University in Tehran on Monday.

"Previously and in the past, it was said that significant and very important events were happening in Europe and the West, and one day it was said that Europe and the West would determine everything in the world," noted Zarif, adding: "But in nowadays world, neither everything happens in the West, nor by the West, we actually have a post-Western world where the whole world is in common."

International conference on unilateralism and international law is underway at Allameh Tabataba'i University in Tehran.

The event, which has been initiated by Abrar International Research and Studies Institution and Allameh Tabataba'i University, hosts a number of experts in the field of international law from various nations including Italy, India, Russia, Finland, Poland, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Macedonia, and Afghanistan.

Zarif delivered his speech at the opening ceremony of the event.

The event includes four expert panels over different issues on the promotion of international law and multilateralism and the fate of peace and international security.
