The Iranian government has filed a lawsuit against the United States at the Hague Arbitration Tribunal, citing "military aggression against Iran's nuclear facilities," "economic sanctions," and "threats to resort to force."

The complaint was registered under the provisions of the 1981 Algiers Accords at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal, following the U.S. violations of international obligations during a 12-day war against Iran in March 2026.

Iran's lawsuit, registered as Case No. A-34 invokes Paragraph 1 of the Algiers Accords. In its submission, Iran has detailed instances of U.S. breaches, including the 12-day war, economic sanctions, and threats of force.

Iran has requested the Tribunal to:

Hold the United States accountable for the violation of Paragraph 1 of the Algiers Accords.

Order the U.S. to immediately cease all direct and indirect interference in Iran's internal affairs.

Require the U.S. to provide assurances against the recurrence of such unlawful acts.

Order full compensation for damages inflicted upon Iran.

Under Paragraph 1 of the Algiers Accords, the United States committed itself to refrain from any direct or indirect, political or military, intervention in Iran's internal affairs.
