Lakki Marwat (IP)— At least six people, including two traffic police officers, were killed and several others wounded in a bomb explosion near Sarai Naurang Bazaar in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district of Lakki Marwat on Tuesday, officials confirmed.

According to local police, the blast occurred in a crowded market area during peak business hours. Authorities stated that the explosive device had been planted in a motorcycle parked near a railway crossing.

Police officials confirmed that two traffic police personnel deployed in the area and four civilians lost their lives in the explosion. Eyewitnesses reported that the blast was so powerful it could be heard from a considerable distance, and nearby shops and buildings sustained significant damage.

Rescue 1122 teams transported at least six injured individuals to nearby hospitals, where an emergency was declared. Hospital sources reported that some of the wounded are in critical condition.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Authorities are working to determine the exact nature of the blast and identify those responsible.

No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, recent months have seen an increase in assaults targeting police and security forces in Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.
