Negotiations Focused on National Interests, Disregarding Threats
Commenting on the continuation of threats by the U.S. President, Baghaei emphasized that while the U.S. uses threats and economic pressure as tools, these have failed to deter Iran from pursuing its legitimate interests. He affirmed that Iran is fully prepared for any eventuality and will proceed at the negotiating table without heeding threats, remaining solely focused on the welfare of the Iranian nation. He warned that Iran knows how to respond decisively to any mistake by the opposing sides.
Talks with U.S. Ongoing, Not Episodic
Regarding the nuclear talks, the spokesman described the dialogue and negotiations as continuous, rejecting the idea that they are episodic. He explained that last week, despite the U.S. publicly announcing the rejection of Iran's plan, Tehran received a set of amendments and considerations via a Pakistani intermediary. Following the review of these proposals, Iran's reciprocal views were submitted to the American side yesterday.
Enrichment Right Recognized, Not Open to Compromise
Baghaei asserted that the issue of "rights" is not subject to negotiation or compromise. He stated clearly that Iran's right to enrichment is recognized under the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) and therefore Tehran does not require recognition of this right from others.
Consultations with Oman on Strait of Hormuz Management
On regional developments, Baghaei highlighted the importance of the Strait of Hormuz as a vital waterway. He attributed recent instability to clear law-breaking by the U.S. and the Zionist regime against a coastal nation. He confirmed that direct contacts with Oman continue to establish specific mechanisms for the waterway, with expert-level meetings having been held in Muscat last week.
