Zarif criticises Trump for increasing US economic war on Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned US President Donald Trump's policy for escalating the country's economic war on Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Escalating US economic WAR on Iranians, @realDonaldTrump ordered SoT to substantially increase sanctions against the COUNTRY of Iran!" Zarif wrote in a tweet on Wednesday.

"It’s an admission that US is DELIBERATELY targeting ordinary citizens: #EconomicTerrorism, illegal & inhuman," Zarif added according to Iran Press.

US President Donald Trump has asked the Secretary to the Treasury to increase sanctions against Iran, in the latest escalation of Tehran-Washington tensions.

"I have just instructed the Secretary of the Treasury to substantially increase Sanctions on the country of Iran!” Trump said in a tweet.

This order came days from Yemeni Ansarullah drone and missile attack on Saudi Aramco facility in the Abqaiq and Khurais oil refineries, the biggest Yemeni Army operation within Saudi territory to date.

Although The Yemeni army takes responsibility for the retaliatory attack on Wednesday night unveiled surveillance footage of the attacks on Saudi Aramco oil facility, Saudi Defense ministry spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki claimed in a press conference that "There was no way the strikes could have been launched from Yemen, as Houthi rebels claimed earlier."

Iran has consistently denied involvement in the attacks and on Wednesday, sent a cable to Washington formally denying any role in the attack. 101/205
