Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, stressed the readiness of the Iranian Red Crescent to help the earthquake victims of Türkiye.

Iran PressIran news: A large earthquake shook southern Türkiye and northern Syria on Monday morning. During this 7.8 magnitude earthquake, many buildings were damaged and search and rescue teams are removing the debris and rescued those trapped under the debris.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Türkiye announced on Tuesday morning that the number of victims of the earthquake in the south of the country has reached 2,316 dead and 13,293 injured.

Also, according to the announcement of this agency, 6 thousand 217 buildings were destroyed in the earthquake-affected cities of this country.

Following this earthquake, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced a week of public mourning in the country.

According to Iran Press, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian added in a phone conversation with Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Monday night that based on the orders of the President of Iran, the Red Crescent society of the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide the necessary assistance to the earthquake victims.

He further said: "In this regard, on Monday evening, the medical and relief team of the Iranian Red Crescent arrived in Türkiye to help rescue the injured."

Amir-Abdollahian expressed his condolences to the government and the nation of Türkiye, especially the afflicted families, saying that the news of the tragic earthquake in the south of Türkiye deeply affected me, the government and the people of Iran.

In this conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye also expressed his appreciation for the support and sympathy of the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the government and the nation of Iran to the President, the government and the nation of Türkiye by explaining the situation and the initial damages.

He also emphasized the Turkish government's attention to the situation of Iranians and students and cooperation with the Iranian Embassy in Ankara and the Iranian Consulate General in Erzurum to provide them with any assistance.
