Atabak said bilateral trade has grown steadily over the past three years but stressed that the two countries' economic, industrial, and investment potential far exceeds current levels. He highlighted progress in removing banking, transport, and logistics barriers, including the activation of a joint banking messaging system, expanded correspondent banking ties, ongoing efforts to finalize a bilateral monetary agreement, and the integration of Iran's Shetab and Russia's Mir payment networks to facilitate trade in national currencies.
The minister also emphasized the need to complete the integration of financial systems, expand joint production of industrial components, power equipment, machinery, and heavy vehicles, establish a unified digital customs system and a green customs corridor, accelerate the Rasht–Astara railway project, and strengthen maritime transport infrastructure.
Atabak reaffirmed Iran's readiness to develop and update a comprehensive roadmap for industrial and trade cooperation and establish a joint industrial, mining, and trade working group, expressing hope that these initiatives would open a new chapter in Tehran-Moscow strategic cooperation.
