Iran Press/ Europe: Hossein Amirabdollahian wrote in a note to the Russian news agency Sputnik on the eve of the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Moscow on Tuesday:” The visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, to Moscow at the official invitation of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will take place in different circumstances.”
Ayatollah Raisi will leave for Moscow on Wednesday at the official invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to head a high-level political-economic delegation for a two-day visit.
Amirabdollahian added in the article: “On the one hand, the two countries in the years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, by going through historical ups and downs in bilateral relations, seek to support the rich civilization and legacy of ancient rule, a bright future in bilateral relations and actively participate in regional and global developments on the path to peace and stability, and on the other hand the new administration in the Islamic Republic of Iran (the thirteenth administration) has a new roadmap based on a balanced, active, dynamic and intelligent foreign policy with an emphasis on cooperation with all its neighbors, especially the Russian Federation, and promotes economic diplomacy, and is determined to further expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation with this country.”
The Foreign Minister noted that the new administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran views the Russian Federation as a strong neighbor and friend based on “cooperation, respect and mutual interests” and is interested in making a significant leap in various fields and exchanging high-level delegations between the two countries, despite the limitations caused by the spread of the Coronavirus. Iran and Russia are determined to develop sustainable and long-term cooperation.
He highlighted that the consultations between the two countries cover a wide range of different bilateral issues (political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological, defense and security, parliamentary, media), regional (including the Middle East, South Caucasus, and Central Asia) and international ( Includes Vienna talks on lifting sanctions).
Amirabdollahian stated that in bilateral relations, the two countries are determined to update the agreement based on mutual relations and principles of cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation in accordance with global developments.
He added: “In the political field, the exchange of messages between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the recent telephone conversations between the presidents of the two countries, show the determination of both sides to develop sustainable and long-term cooperation.”
The Foreign Minister added: “In the field of economy, trade, industry, and agriculture, various projects have been defined and implemented between the two countries. The beginning of the process of membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the growing cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union has become a factor that strengthens the economic relations between the two countries; clear horizons await economic cooperation between the two countries.”
The top diplomat went on to say: “In the field of culture and popular interactions, the signing of the establishment agreement and the framework of activities of the cultural centers of the two countries has paved the way for the promotion of cultural relations between the two countries.”
Amirabdollahian stated: “In the parliamentary sphere, the visit of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to Moscow and the transmission of the Supreme Leader’s message to Putin and the reciprocal visit of the Speaker of the Duma to Tehran Viacheslav Valudin helped strengthen the parliamentary diplomacy of the two countries.”
He further wrote: In the field of security, the agreement on cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation in cyber security has been signed by the officials of the two countries. The parties shall cooperate in the United Nations and other regional and international forums in strengthening information security and combating organized crime.
Iran-Russia relations in the field of defense and law enforcement are growing
In his note, the Iranian foreign minister added that in defense and law enforcement, the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation are growing. The joint exercise of Iran, Russia, and China in the North Indian Ocean and the Sea of Oman shows the seriousness of the three countries.
The Iranian top diplomat stressed: “At the regional level and in the light of the will of the top leaders, cooperation between the two countries in order to ensure common interests has crossed the borders of bilateral relations and is stronger by entering the areas of regional and international security assistance than ever before. In this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, as two regional powers, have a unique and privileged role in resolving regional conflicts and equations and fighting terrorism. “
