Beirut (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister met and held talks with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Thursday after meeting with senior officials of the country.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in a meeting exchanged their views on strengthening bilateral ties and issues of mutual interests. 

Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, welcomed Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian accompanied by Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Jalal Feirouznia, and an official delegation at the Prime ministerial Palace Grand Serail.

During the meeting, Premier Mikati said: "Lebanon is in dire need today, more than ever, to strengthen the confidence of the Lebanese in the state and its institutions, through normal relations among countries based on mutual respect and common interests".

Mikati stressing that Lebanon welcomes any effort from brotherly and friendly countries, said that: "Best service that can be provided to the region, in general, and to Lebanon, in particular, at this critical stage, is that the dialogue meetings and negotiations between the Arab and Iranian neighbors would yield to securing the security, progress, and stability in the region."

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Thursday, met and held talks with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and his counterpart Abdullah Bou Habib.

Amir-Abdollahian in the separate talks with Lebanon senior officials emphasized strong support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Lebanon and said that Iran is ready for cooperation and assistance to the Lebanese government.
