Israeli warplanes and artillery struck several areas of southern Lebanon early on Thursday, including the Ali al-Taher heights and the Al-Dabsha and Dohat Kfar Reman areas near Nabatieh, according to Lebanese state media.

The strikes come amid renewed tensions despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that took effect in June.

Israel has continued military operations in southern Lebanon, while accusing Hezbollah of ceasefire violations.

Lebanese authorities, meanwhile, have repeatedly accused Israel of violating the truce and maintaining forces in Lebanese territory.

Early on Thursday, Israeli fighter jets reportedly struck the Ali al-Taher heights several times, while 240mm artillery fire targeted Al-Dabsha and Dohat Kfar Reman. An unusual odor was reported in the area following the bombardment, although there was no immediate confirmation of what type of munitions caused it.

The latest strikes follow a series of Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon in recent days, including deadly strikes in the Nabatieh area, further raising concerns over the durability of the ceasefire and ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
