During a meeting with Uzbekistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister Bakhromjon Aloyev, Iran's FM Abbas Araghchi thanked Uzbekistan for dispatching a high-ranking delegation to the commemoration ceremony honoring Iran's late leader.

Araghchi further emphasized the need to bolster economic and trade cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent through multilateral mechanisms.

The two sides agreed on plans to elevate bilateral relations across all domains.

Iran and Uzbekistan are actively strengthening their bilateral ties. The two countries held the eighth round of political consultations in Tehran, where they reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing political dialogue and expanding cooperation in trade, transit, and investment.

On the economic front, bilateral trade has seen significant growth, increasing by 37.5% to USD 305 million in the first half of 2026, with ambitious goals to reach $2 billion. Discussions also focused on advancing 29 joint projects, improving transport connectivity via Iran's southern ports as a key route for Uzbekistan, and preparations for high-level business forums to further solidify the burgeoning partnership.
