Afghan officials said that at least 30 civilians were killed in the US air strikes on province of Helmand on Wednesday.

Iran PressAsia: Helmand provincial governor Mohammad Yasin Khan said that the air strikes in Garmsir district in Helmand Province, caused civilian casualties.

A resident of the area called Mohammadullah said: "Foreign forces bombed the area and the bombs hit my brother's house," Iran Press reported.

He said that 16 women and children were among the casualties.

US-led force claimed that the ground forces were not aware of any civilians' presence in or near the area of air strikes.

The United Nations said last month the number of civilian casualties from air strikes in the first nine months of the year was already higher than any other year since 2009.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Kabul police chief said at least six people have been wounded in a coordinated attack against security forces in the eastern part of the capital Kabul.

Officials said a suicide bomber detonated his explosives Wednesday and then other insurgents started a gun battle with forces in the area.

Security forces are in control of the area and there isn't any shooting now.

Initial reports indicate that the target of the attack was a security company called G4S.

Najib Danish, spokesman for Afghanistan's Interior Ministry, said there's been a coordinated attack against security forces in the eastern part of the capital Kabul.

Danish says there are casualties but the number of dead and wounded was not immediately clear.
