American-born Press TV news anchor, Marzieh Hashemi, who was released 2 days ago from a prison in the United States, has warned about innocent people being put behind bars in the United States.

Iran Press/America: Hashemi at a protest rally on Friday in Washington, D.C. said that her 11-days detention without charge by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was illegal and represented an attempt to instill fear in the Muslim population.

On Jan 24, 2019, the US government released Marzieh Hashemi without charge after imprisoning her for 11 days, Iran Press reported.

Dozens of activists gathered on Friday at the US District Court House in Washington, D.C. to protest against Hashemi’s detention by the FBI.

'USA, shame on you,' the protesters shouted, as well as demanded justice and freedom of speech.

"They can say that it is legal but I know all freedom-loving people from around the world know that illegally detaining, I will say, kidnapping, transferring… imprisoning, taking off my hijab and so many other things, … we know that it is not legal," "What they are trying to do is to intimidate to instill fear in each and every one of us." Hashemi told the protesters on Friday.

Hashemi also said that while being detained, FBI officers warned her not to disclose the information about her detention to the media.

On Jan 13, 2019, US-born Marzieh Hashemi was detained in St. Louis Lambert International Airport after coming to the country to visit her family.

She was brought to Washington, D.C. where she appeared before a jury as a witness in an undisclosed case.

Hashemi has lived in Iran since 1982 and worked for Press TV since 2008.   105/ 211 /210
