Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) have staged yet another peaceful protest to renew their call for the immediate release of prominent Muslim cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

Iran PressAfrica: Residents of Abouja have regularly held protests, calling for the release of the head of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.

According to Press TV, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria has called on the federal government "to listen to reason and to release Sheikh Zakzaky immediately."

Zakzaky has been detained for over two years by the State Security Service since over 300 members were killed by soldiers in December 2015. For the first two years, he was detained without trial and despite a court order for his release.

He was earlier this year finally tried by the Kaduna government for his alleged roles in the December 2015 violence which occurred after IMN members blocked a road being used by Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai.
