Secretary-general of Iran's Drug Control Headquarters said that narcotics are the enemy of mankind and the Islamic Republic is fighting against it on behalf of the world.

Iran Press/Iran news: Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni said in an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Tuesday that Iran is not only fighting against narcotics on behalf of the world, but that it is alone in its anti-drugs measures.

Iran is standing against this enemy of the humankind alone but receiving no assistance from the global community, he said.

Momeni added that international bodies are good at talking about fighting narcotics, however, the situation is different when it comes to providing real help.

International assistance in this regard is next to zero, Iran's top antir-drugs official said.

The secretary-general of Drug Control Headquarters also said that scores of Iran's young people were martyred to save their nation from the menace of narcotics.

Fighting against narcotics has cost Iran dearly, the official said adding that the expenses could have been spent for development of the country.
