Diplomacy and Field Act in Unity to Consolidate Victory
In a live television interview, Araghchi highlighted that the synergy between the military field, the "street" (public presence), the media, and diplomacy was key to the country's resilience. He emphasized that diplomacy serves to support and consolidate the achievements of the armed forces, transforming field victories into recognized rights and ensuring national security on the international stage.
Two-Stage Negotiation Process to End War
The Foreign Minister outlined the structure of the ongoing talks, describing a two-stage process aimed at ending the war. The first stage involves a 14-article Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), expected to be signed soon, which will implement a ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon. This document also addresses the lifting of the U.S. blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and the creation of a reconstruction plan to inject significant resources into the economy.
The second stage, set to begin immediately after the MoU is signed, consists of 60 days of negotiations for a "Final Agreement." This phase will address critical issues such as Iran's nuclear program—including enrichment and stockpiles—and the lifting of sanctions. Araghchi noted that the nuclear file was deferred to the second stage due to current complexities and the inability of the other side to accept Iran's demands during the initial phase.
Future Management of Strait of Hormuz
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi stated that while Iran’s sovereignty and military presence will remain permanent, the future administration of the waterway will change from past practices. He announced that Iran and Oman will issue a joint statement soon, detailing new legal mechanisms for transit. He clarified that the waters are under Iranian and Omani territorial sovereignty and that services provided will no longer be free, aligning with international law.
Warning Against Media Speculation
Addressing recent media leaks regarding the text of the agreement, Araghchi emphasized that no final document has been validated yet. He urged the media to avoid speculation and creating a confusing atmosphere, stating that such actions could jeopardize the final steps of the agreement. He reiterated that threats and pressure have proven counterproductive and that the path to an agreement requires mutual respect and a cessation of hostile rhetoric.
