Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said even in the new MoU reached with the U.S. Iran's has preserved its sovereign control over the Strait of Hormuz along with the other coastal country Oman.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran would continue to use all available diplomatic and legal mechanisms to document and expose actions carried out against the country and its people.

Baqaei siad: "In the text of the MoU, Iran has committed to adopting the necessary measures, in cooperation with the other coastal country, Oman, and in consultation with other stakeholders, because our fundamental objective is to ensure that transit through the Strait of Hormuz is conducted safely and securely."

He emphasized that the finalization of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States to end military confrontation across all fronts represents a significant development, but does not diminish Iran’s commitment to seeking accountability.

Baqaei also underscored the central role of Lebanon in the agreement, stating that ending the war in the Arab country is an inseparable component of the understanding reached between Tehran and Washington. He noted that references to Lebanon appear multiple times in the text and that the memorandum explicitly calls for an end to hostilities while reaffirming respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Referring to Israeli attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs during the final stages of negotiations, Baqaei said Iran and its allies remained focused on safeguarding the national interests of both Iran and Lebanon. He argued that the attacks ultimately failed to derail diplomatic efforts and instead reinforced unity within the Resistance Front.

As he said, the outcome demonstrated that Iran and its partners were able to advance their strategic objectives despite ongoing military and political pressure. He added that Tehran would continue to closely monitor developments and ensure that commitments related to Lebanon and the broader peace framework are fully respected.

“Diplomacy and efforts to reduce tensions do not mean overlooking the major crimes committed against the Iranian people,” Baqaei said, reiterating that accountability and the pursuit of justice will remain key elements of Iran’s foreign policy alongside diplomatic engagement.
