Tehran (IP) - The director-general of the Ministry of Health's Office of Environmental and Occupational Health said that 84 million tons of carbon dioxide enter the Earth's atmosphere annually through global usage of tobacco.

Iran PressIran News: "Out of every four farmers who grow tobacco, one develops Green tobacco sickness (GTS)," Jafar Jandaghi said on Sunday.

He stated: "In 2014, Bangladesh spent $21 million to reverse the effects of tobacco on the soil. Annually, 3.5 million hectares of soil are lost due to tobacco cultivation in the world."

Jandaghi pointed out: Tobacco use is also shown in the lead role of films and culturally endangers the health of society.

Jafar Jandaghi said that 25.88 of men and 4.44  of women smoke. On the other hand, unfortunately, we see an increase in hookah, as 57.06% of men and 17.07% of women over the age of 18 use hookah, and the rate of increase in hookah has been 28%.
