Tehran (IP) – Iran's border police commander announced the discovery and seizure of 1,600 kilograms of narcotics in the armed conflict between border guards and smugglers in southeastern of the country.

Iran PressIran News: Iran is the leading country in the fight against narcotics worldwide, despite its proximity to Afghanistan, the largest producer of narcotics.

Brigadier-General Ahamad-Ali Goodarzi announced that border guards of Saravan Border Regiment of Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeast of Iran) detected the activities of a drug trafficking gang in the Esfandak border area.

He highlighted that the border guards succeeded in seizing a vehicle and discovered more than 1,622 kilograms of various drugs in the operation.

Seizing more than 1,000 tons of narcotics despite the harshest sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran had the highest rate of narcotics discoveries in the world last Iranian year.
