Iran Press/ Iran News: Speaking at the 14th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which was held under the slogan “Regional Economic Cooperation in the Aftermath of COVID-19” with the leaders of 10 ECO member states in attendance, Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday that the international community had witnessed the US government's illegal approach and full-scale economic war against the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past four years.
He added that the unilateral, illegal actions of the United States to bring the great nation of Iran to its knees have failed. Despite enduring heavy economic pressures, this great nation has relied on its own will and power to achieve significant successes and great achievements, including the fight against COVID-19.
Rouhani stated that a clear example of this great achievement is efforts made to develop the coronavirus vaccine relying on Iranian scientists' knowledge and experience. "In this regard, we are ready to cooperate with other countries, especially ECO member states. We are also ready to cooperate and lay the foundations for cooperation on ways how the ECO region deals with the post-corona world," he added.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, also underscored the importance of rich capacities and valuable potentials of human and natural resources, energy reserves, complementary economies, and the interested private sector, the excellent regional and global transportation as well as the advantages of the ECO region, stressing that the ECO is an important priority in the paradigm governing regional policy and an important part of the neighborhood policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
