Urmia (IP) - Lake Urmia in the province of West Azerbaijan, northwest of Iran, which is a pristine tourist attraction has turned red these days.

Iran Press/Iran News: Lake Urmia is the largest salt lake in the world, which is located in the northwest of the Iranian plateau, and with its red color, the beauty of the lake has increased.

Every year, the color of Lake Urmia turns red in autumn due to the presence of algae and bacteria in high salinity conditions.

Lake Urmia is one of the pristine tourist attractions in West Azerbaijan province, with the revival of which, the tourism industry has developed in northwestern Iran.

Lake Urmia, however, is not hosting tourists this year due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
