Head of the Iranian judiciary Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi

The head of the Iranian judiciary said that British action in seizing Iranian oil tanker in Gibraltar has taken on behalf of the US and Britain should release tanker, or face consequences.

Iran Press/Iran news: The head of the Iranian judiciary, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, on Monday at a meeting of the Supreme Judiciary counsel, referred to the seizure of Iran's supertanker Grace 1 in the strait of Gibraltar and by the British and said this act was cruel and contrary to all international rules and regulations.

He added: Iranian tanker illegally has been seized; while westerners who claim that they are supporter of international law and human rights, have been silenced against the theft of Iraqi and Syrian oil by the ISIS terrorist, still keep silent, Iran Press reported.

“I suppose the British and many other Europeans are well aware of the Islamic Republic’s capacities and power and should release the illegally seized tanker as soon as possible,” Raisi said on Monday.

“It is for their own benefit, otherwise, they should await the consequences of this illegal measure and violation of the international pacts,” he stressed.

Raisi called on the UK to abandon such hostile acts, which are conducted "on behalf of the US".

The British navy seized an Iranian tanker at Gibraltar on Thursday (July 4th) at the request of the United States.

Iranian Defense Minister in reaction to British Marines action in seizing the Iranian Grace 1 supertanker said that Iran can't tolerate British piracy.
