Iranian first Vice President, Eshaq Jahangiri

"Exporters are in the frontline of the economic war against our country" Iranian first Vice President, Eshaq Jahangiri said on Monday evening.

Iran PressIran news: Pointing out the importance of the export at a meeting of the Supreme Council of Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones, Mr. Jahangiri added, "All export-oriented agencies and bodies who are in charge of export should support exporters and help to increase non-oil exports."

The First Vice President said: "Despite all the outrageous sanctions and pressures, the country's export volume in the first six months of this year (of Iranian calendar starts 21 March ) compared to the first six months of last year, has increased in terms of weight more than 22%, which shows the efforts made by both the private and public sectors to win the economic war."

He described one of the goals of establishing free trade zones to assist the country's export, saying that the Free trade Zone's managers should make specific plans to increase exports and to make a balance between export and import.

Jahangiri added, "Of course, neighboring countries are the main export target markets for our products, and free trade zones must be bases for Iranian companies to export their products to the countries such as; Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, and countries around the Persian Gulf, and Central Asia."

Referring to the decreasing of oil incomes due to the US sanctions, the vice president said, "boosting of export would make up the currency shortages, and under these circumstances, we should seize the opportunity by strengthening the country's non-oil export sector to earn a bit more income".
