Tehran (IP) - The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said the scaling back of Iran's commitment to the nuclear deal is a direct result of other signatories to the deal failing to honour their commitments, and Iran's actions are in-line with the JCPOA with Tehran having the legal right to reduce its commitments.

Iran PressIran news:  The foreign ministry spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, speaking at his weekly Press conference in Tehran on Monday, said the fourth phase to scale back Iran's commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is prepared and ready but we very much hope the Europeans honour their commitments and so there won't be a need to implement this fourth phase.

Asked about Turkey's military incursion into Syria, Mousavi said: "We believe that the only way to sort out differences between Turkey and Syria is through diplomatic negotiations not military intervention. We hope Turkey comes back to the ADENA agreement and we are ready to help both Syria and Turkey to solve this problem."

Turning to Lebanon, the foreign ministry spokesman said: "We do not believe in interference in the internal issues of any country and we hope the Lebanese people and official solve these problems in Lebanon peacefully."

Commenting on a so-called thaw in relations between various Arab countries and the Israeli regime, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi condemned Israel's participation in the Bahrain conference and said such conferences can never bring peace to this region, or establish peace with the Zionist regime of Israel. He also said it is regrettable that some Arab regimes are trying to normalize their relations with the Zionist regime.

Mousavi also emphasized that Iran is always working for peace and stability in the region, and that is why Tehran welcomes any suggestion for reducing tensions in the region.

Elsewhere in his remarks, foreign ministry spokesman pointed to Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's participation in the Non-aligned movement summit in the Republic of Azerbaijan. He also said it is in Iran's interest to approve the FATF bill and the Palermo Convention and to become a member of this convention. He said the foreign ministry had said this unambiguously on many occasions and that he hoped the relevant bodies would approve the FATF and CFT bills and the Palermo Convention.

Iran and UAE relations

In an answer to a question about recent developments between Iran and UEA, the official underlined, "I confirm new approaches in Iran-UAE relations, but I cannot confirm the release of $ 700 million of Iranian money the media published recently. We welcome the settlement of disputes with regional countries, especially with the United Arab Emirates. In particular, the plan (Coalition of Hope) we have presented, includes UAE and other Persian Gulf states. The Persian Gulf states must know that they have no friends but Iran."

"Of course, I do also not confirm the news about the Emirati security official visit to Tehran, but there have been other diplomatic shuttles between the two countries", Mousavi reiterated.
