Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received groups of university students who were holding mourning ceremonies on the occasion of the 40th martyrdom anniversary of the 3rd Shiite Imam Hussain (AS).

Iran Press/Iran News: A mourning ritual marking the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (AS), the 40th day after the events of Ashura, was held at the Hussayniyah of Imam Khomeini with groups of university students in attendance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei on Saturday morning.

Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS) every year in which a huge crowd of Shia flock into the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rituals.

This year the Arbaeen pilgrimage has coincided on Saturday (October 19). 101
