Tehran (IP) - Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade said that over the course of a three-year plan until 2021, auto parts will be produced in the country, amounting to almost $1.2 billion.

Iran Press/Iran news: "We specifically track two plans. First, we have taken the construction plan more seriously, entitled 'Domestic Manufacturing Movement'. Now, most imported auto parts can be manufactured in the country. Based on a contract between carmakers and auto parts manufacturers, auto parts will be produced in the country, amounting to almost 5 million euros, which is estimated to reach $1.2 billion until 2020," Reza Rahmani said in an interview with Iran Press after the weekly meeting of the cabinet on Wednesday.

He went on to say that a decision was taken not to depend on the carmakers who did not adhere to their contracts and left the country.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that the first-ever production line for smart kitchen appliances was launched recently in Iran, which shows Iran can compete at a global level in the manufacture of home appliances, with some of the most sophisticated being produced in this country. 101/211/218
