Tehran (IP) -Iran's director-general of bureau for aliens and foreign immigrants in Tehran Mahdi Mahmoudi has said US sanctions have affected humanitarian activities.

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Tuesday  September 17 on the sidelines of the Forum to Improve the Livelihood of Afghan Refugees in Tehran, Mahmoudi said: "A big question for us is that why these unfair US sanctions are affecting refugees and humanitarian activities."

He added: "We are asking those countries who claim to champion human rights, and those who claim to be founders of human rights, why  they  are silent about this violation of human rights and how  refugees  can tolerate these hard economic conditions as a result of unfair US sanctions."

Due to the effects of these economic sanctions international organisations like UNHCR which are involved in providing humanitarian aid and relief, while trying to improve the livelihood of refugees, are experiencing many problems and no doubt the US sanctions and economic pressure will affect refugee's livelihood.

We need the active participation of international organisation to find a way to solve refugee's problems in this tough situation and unfair economic sanctions which are adversely affecting human rights and humanitarian work. 203
