Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi expressed concern about the security situation in Kashmir and media reports about restrictions imposed on the population of this disputed region.

Iran PressIran news: Latest news reports from Kashmir  indicate a series of restrictive security measures imposed upon the region's predominantly Muslim population, which has caused difficulties for the people of Kashmir, in particular problems in practising their religious rituals.

Muslims in Kashmir faced trouble performing the Eid al-Adha prayers on Monday amid intense restrictions and growing tension caused by the Indian government's scrapping the region's special status, reported Iran Press.

On August 6, 2019, India scrapped Article 370 initiating the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories that has dramatic impact on the two neighbours.

Pakistan has announced that it will be downgrading diplomatic relations with India. It has also said it will be suspending bilateral trade with India.

India and Pakistan have fought several bitter wars over Kashmir, a mountainous, predominantly Muslim territory claimed by both countries. 203/211/215
